Life on the Farm - 5/8/2013

It's so good to be back on a farm after more than 40 years away. The eggs come in many shades and are very fresh.

The dog has discovered swimming in the irrigation pond, that horses are big and sorta scary, that cats hiss, and that rolling in a fresh cow pie leads to a bath. It's actually kind of nice that he's scared of the chickens - at least we don't have to worry about him chasing them. Ellen has given him a new, more descriptive name - Turk The City Dog.

I learned (from Ellen) that boiling brass sash locks in water will quickly remove the layers of paint but it doesn't work so well with the steel sash cord pulleys. We're making progress on the project and I keep thinking that we'll be going back together real soon now... We'd better because Mother's Day is coming and she's 70 miles away over another mountain pass.

We wake up every day to blue sky, shirt sleeve weather, a view of Mt. Stewart, and a big smile on our faces.
