Changes

It's been a bit surprising to see how much has changed around here in the four plus months that we were gone. The Mexican lime tree, although it was pruned before we left, decided to send suckers to the sky. What hasn't changed is the monsoon storms and the Arizona heat! Our daughter and her fiance did a wonderful job keeping the landscaping in check.

I was really surprised to see bumper crops on the lemon, Mexican lime, and orange trees. Still green of course, but looking really good. Usually one or two of the trees decide to bear but it looks like it will be all three this year.

As we drove around town, we were surprised at the number of new businesses that have just opened or that are advertising openings in the near future. You leave town for a while and the world changes.

Turk's situation continues changing. He's scheduled for his third surgery tomorrow although we're hoping that this one will not be as involved as the first two. Still trying to get his incision healed.

  1. I WISH WE COULD GROW TREES LIKE YOURS HERE IN aMARILLO . MY MOTHER USE TO MAKE US TEA FROM THE LEAVES OF THE ORANGE OR LEMON TREES THAT GREW IN OUR BACK YARD .

    1. They do well here without a lot of attention as long as they get deep watered once in a while.

    2. That is a completely different world than I have here in my home in Michigan! I never saw a real lemon growing before .Your yard looks very lush, you must have some type of watering system..looks good !

    3. It's really nice to get fresh fruit off the trees even if it is different than the apples I grew up with. In ground sprinklers and drip systems are pretty standard here in the southwest so that the watering can be done at night when it is "cooler."

    4. I am so glad that your little dog is doing so well but sad that he will need yet another surgery , A few years ago our little miniture schnouzer , Lonesome , was attacked by a larger dog d grabbed by the neck and shaken like a rag doll . I managed to stick my hand in the big dogs mouth and when he bit me he let go of Lonesome . i thought Lonsome was dead because he laid so still and lifeless but to my surprised he started to whimper . He had the his wind knocked out but he was ok . Thank God a man came to our rescue and saved my dog but left before we could ask if the dog had his shots , it took several days before we found the dog at the pound and finally knew that he didnt have rabies ,
i keep thinking of how fragrant your trees must be and remembering my mother making the tea . Would you consider sending me some leaves of your lemon and orange trees . ? I would be more than happy to pay for the postage

    1. Turk's a trooper and has kept an amazing attitude through the whole ordeal although he's no longer as accepting of strangers.

    1. The lemons should be right in season for Quartzsite. It will likely be a bit early for the orange and maybe a bit late for the lime. Let us know if you want some and we'll bring them along!
