Rendezvous

The Fiberglass Trailer Rendezvous is the event that originally got me started going to Quartzsite. It's grown tremendously over the years and now draws trailers from all around the US and Canada. It's schedule conflicts with another event, so we went for the 'pre' gathering.
When we first started attending, Casitas made up the majority of the trailers in attendance, and they still have a significant portion, but...

Escape trailers made in Chilliwack, BC are becoming a bigger and bigger percentage of attendees. This photo has at least one of each of the sizes that they currently have in production.

This Bonaire Oxygen is very rare. This example came from Ontario, Canada.

In addition to visiting with friends, and making new friends, we did find some time to get out and wander. This saguaro reminded me of a puppy trying to balance a ball on its nose.

I found some rust I'd never seen. I'm assuming this was a foundation for some sort of mining equipment, but I couldn't find any information about it.

Brittle bush was blooming, so in spite of the unusually cold weather, sneezes won't be far behind.

Six days went by way too fast. When I left there was well over 100 trailers in attendance and the event didn't officially start until the next day.

Fiberglas Friends

We're blessed to live close to the Superstitions. Not only does it make it easy to go out to play, but it's also a place that many of our molded Fiberglas trailer friends like to visit. We hit the jackpot recently when two couples ended up there at the same time. Jerry, of Egg Rollings, had to get a picture.

We grabbed the dutch oven and headed out to fix dinner for them. Pot Roast, low and slow, gave us lots of time to play with fire and to catch up with travel plans and aspirations.

There's three pounds of pot roast buried under all the veggies.

The breeze was a bit chilly (at least for Arizona weather wimps) but it was nice and warm in their Clam with a little fire going. A big thanks to Lynne and David of Winter in the Desert who were the first to spill the beans that they were all going to be at Lost Dutchman.

As always, the sunset plays beautifully on the mountain although I wasn't patient enough for a good picture - too busy eating.

The crowning glory, food wise, was Jerry's blueberry cobbler. If I'd been smarter, we would have brought some Tillamook ice cream to add yet another layer of gastronomic decadence!

We'll see them all again in Quartzsite soon.

Quartzsite Again

We continue to gain a diverse group of trailers in addition to the Casita majority. Some people believe in the belt AND suspenders approach!

We have one U-Haul;

one Boler;

one Burro;

one EggCamper, and;

one Escape - a brand new 5.0 towed by a brand new Toyota Tacoma.  They had a line-up for tours before they even got it set.

As of this evening, there are 74 units here, as well as cool (mid 50's) and breezy (gusts to 32 mph) weather including occasional sprinkles. Hoping for more sun tomorrow.

Quartzsite Gathering

More and more trailers have arrived and I've lost count. Here's some pictures - lots of white eggs, and then some that are a bit more unique.

A Trillium 5500 from Ontario has been here for a couple weeks.

Four Scamp 19s are here currently with a fifth due to arrive today. Three of the four currently here are deluxe versions.

This Casita is nicely individualized.

There is one all electric Lil Snoozy in attendance.

Here's one with a vintage style awning on a Casita and a nice trunk in the rear receiver.

There are a couple units around with these very nice, hand crafted screen rooms.

A new Scamp 13 is in attendance all the way from New York, still sporting the factory plastic wrap on the LP bottles.

Two BigFoot (Big Feet??) stopped by for a couple hours on their way out to town to say hello to a couple other BF trailers in attendance. There's at least one U-Haul and one Boler here but I don't have pictures of them yet.

There are a few creative signs - I especially enjoy the one warning of an Attack Flamingo.

And there are a number of dogs in attendance including some small ones like Phil & Catherine's Niki and some tall ones like the Greyhounds I've seen.

These are Thursday's pictures - it's now Friday morning, so I guess the party has officially started in spite of the breezy  and cooler weather.

Gathering of the Eggs

I know that there are folks that wanted to be here and can't, so I thought I'd post a couple pictures as the gathering started to form. When Bob and I left for a 3 day river trip on Sunday morning, there were fiberglass trailers at the location of the annual Quartzsite Gathering, nearly a week ahead of schedule.

When we came back Tuesday evening, there were 18 eggs in the immediate area with another arriving Wednesday morning early. Just like an Easter egg hunt, it's pretty much impossible to see of all of them without having a personal drone to give a aerial view.

Already there are trailers from Arizona, California, Colorado, Illinois, Louisianna, Minnesota, Ontario, and Washington. With the Gathering not schedule to start until Friday, it's looking like there will be a good crowd!

Supposed to be 70 degrees today - just saying. ;-)
