Emerald Pool Loop

November 13, 2014 - I took Squeak on a walk today to see the famous Emerald Pools. The trail to the lower pool is nicely paved, at least from the Emerald Pools parking lot. Once again, we were out ahead of almost everyone.

From some of the pictures I’ve seen, the waterfalls and pools must be spectacular during the spring runoff. The fall color does add a special effect!

After passing behind the lower falls, you can continue up the stairs to the middle pool. I should have kept going to the upper pool but I found some muscles on the Narrows hike that I didn’t know existed…

The views of the big red walls, even on an overcast day, were pretty spectacular.

I loved this view from the middle pool out across the Zion Canyon. The Zion Lodge is down there in the trees.

If my recollector is working right, I think this is the fourth time I’ve visited Zion. But it’s the first time that it hasn’t been the middle of the summer. This place needs LOTS more time, and right now the weather is perfect! Too bad there are other commitments.

  1. You had better get out fast, before you turn into a hiker! ;-)

  2. I've seen pictures of Zion before, but none this beautiful. You capture the magic of the rocks.

    1. Thanks, Sharon. My pictures don't really do justice to the true beauty of Zion. It was overwhelmingly beautiful!

  3. We need to return to Zion and spend more time exploring. So much to see and do...Lovely photos...would love to do that narrows hike but doubt if I could handle it.

    1. I'm trying to figure out when we can get back, working around all our other schedules.

  4. We love Zion, but not the crowds. Mark and Bobbie, along with the rest of that group, are killing me with blogs and facebook posts. Maybe we need a Fall Zion gathering of all things fiberglass, and anyone else, of course. Enjoy!!

    1. All my other Zion experiences were mid summer - too hot and insanely crowded. I LOVED the way too quick Fall trip but I'm concerned with how it fits with our annual Green River trip. I'm now toying with a spring trip but suspect run-off will preclude a lot of slots. I LOVE the idea of a fiberglas and friends gathering!!!
