Celebrating Another Year

There were several birthdays that seemed so important when I was young. Sixteen, Eighteen, and Twenty One were all recognized as significant milestones for various reasons, but I'm thinking this birthday is the best milestone of all.

At 7:55 a.m.

I'm waiting for the doors to open

at the Mesa Ranger Station

so that I can get my much anticipated life-time geezer pass to the National Parks and lands. Free entrance to National Parks and discounted camping in many locations including BLM, Forest Service, etc.

Just in time to save some camping fees at Lees Ferry and a slightly reduced rate for the river permit. One week until we launch!

  1. Couldn't wait to get mine, too. But now, four years later, I would gladly pay full price if I could turn back the hands of time.:-)

    1. I've never figured out the time warp idea so I'll happily settle for one of the nation's last really great values.

  2. I remember the excitement of getting my very own senior pass....we had been using David's for years, but there was something special about having my own. It was one day past my birthday and we were in the Smoky Mountains at the spring fiberglass rally.

Know you are real excited about the trip...stay safe and take lots of pictures!

    1. It's a whole lot easier to look in my wallet for the number than to ask "someone else" for theirs. ;-) I'm sure there will be lots of pictures from the trip - expect to get a full dose of Grand Canyon on the blog in April.

    1. Thanks, Bob. BTW, I spotted a "For Sale" ad recently for a very nice Scamp 19. Are you going to be tenting on your way east?
