Watching Boats in Seward

The City of Seward knows that they get inundated with visitors during certain seasons. As a result, they've created many RV parking spots along the waterfront. Not fancy, and most have no utilities, but for $15 you've got a great view and can watch the boats come and go.

Seward is the access point for the Kenai Fjords National Park and is home to a number of small passenger ships that do tours of the glaciers.

The harbor is also home for a small number of commercial fishing vessels.

Holland America arrives weekly, dropping off a boatload of passengers on a one-way Alaska cruise and picking up a new group. The blue machinery is used for loading coal from the Denali region that is shipped to the Pacific Rim.

BJ loved the nice weather and we loved the lack of mosquitoes

while the grandson couldn't resist the chance to get wet, again.

At 8 p.m. the Holland America Zaandam backs out of its slip,

turns, and departs southbound.

4 bars of Verizon 3G on the Millenicom spot without the antenna or amplifier.

  1. We had a Holland America tour bus pass as we headed toward Tok.
Currently doing laundry and trying to decide which direction to take tomorrow (Tuesday).
    It's a bit hotter than I expected!

    1. Flip a coin? I can't say anything about north of the Glenn because we haven't been there yet. Fairbanks, Deadhorse, and Denali the first couple weeks of July on our schedule.

    1. Seward is a wonderful spot to just chill. It's also a great base if you want to do a glacier cruise, kayak, or skin dive.
