We started seeing Bison shortly after leaving Liard River this morning. Some were by themselves, others in groups of twenty or more.
Destination for the day was Watson Lake, Yukon where gas prices were much more reasonable. Watson Lake is home to the Signpost Forest, started by a lonely service man while building the road in 1942.
People often bring signs from their hometown or signs that they've made to add to the collection,
so I brought a sign as well. The mileage is correct only if you take the shortest, easiest, most boring route.
Unfortunately, there was a sign at the local Visitor Center that I didn't want to see. The ferry is not expected to be in place to cross the Yukon River at Dawson City for another 5 or 6 days and they don't report the road condition until the ferry opens. Guess we'll be in Anchorage sooner than we thought, taking the shorter, easier route.
I read somewhere that spring is late coming this year.
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the great information! I just joined RV.net.
Looks like everyone is having a great time!
Spring is later than usual but that means we have more bear sightings. Fair tradeoff! When do you guys leave?
DeleteIn about 10 days or when every thing is.complete!
DeleteI sure hope we cross paths!
