It's a Stretch

Normally, we like to limit our days to 200 miles or just a bit more. I'd planned to boondock 150 miles ago, but it was just too hot so we did two days driving in one day. As a result, there aren't any pictures of today's travel. Instead, you'll have to put up with more pictures from the Canyon.

After I finished with my visit to the boat collection, we went for a walk along the rim trail west of Bright Angel Lodge. The first thing we noticed was new signage for the Bright Angel trail and new restrooms at the trailhead.

We love the ever changing views of the canyon.

Wildlife came in all shapes and sizes,

from the small squirrels and dogs

to the larger California Condor who proved to be amazingly hard to photograph. I don't know how John West does it!

We picked a spot in the shade to watch the shadows and the visitors,

even the one who was trying to capture the essence while everyone else looked over his shoulder.

Home for the night is a spot at the Lake Mead RV Resort. Don't care about the water or sewer hookups, but we're loving the power for the air conditioner!

    1. We count it a privilege to live close enough that we can visit often.

  3. So you have gone from almost needing anti-freeze to needing A/C. Hope you have some nice weather somewhere in between the extremes!
We need to go back to the Canyon.

    1. We got some elevation after leaving Lake Mead so our boondocks spot topped out about 80 and got down to 50 overnight. Just about perfect!

  4. Sooo cool to see a California Condor! Nice. And it was fun to see you and BJ along a tiny bit of the route of your latest adventures. Big smiles from Grand Canyon photos, too.
